Stress is unavoidable sometimes. Healthy ways to deal with stress is what we do in stress management. We develop coping mechanisms to reduce stress, both when it is happening and in our personal free time. Good communication and time management skills are some of the things we review with our patients as preventative stress measures. Other techniques like meditation and relaxation are things we do in our off-time to blow off steam. We figure out what is causing the anxiety, then develop a plan to prevent and reduce each cause’s impact on your life.
Stress management takes time and practice. We will often pick out the highest stressors and address them first. Diagnosing causes and planning techniques are what we do here, but practice and follow-through is what makes these techniques work.
