Couples counseling is designed to focus on improving the attachment and bonding patterns between couples. In doing so, the couple becomes aware of not only their own approach to relationships, but also their partner’s approach to the relationship for the purpose of synchronizing communication and emotion. In the process, each member of the couple learns to apply their new found knowledge to their own particular relationship with the goal of increasing intimacy, affection, respect, and understanding.
